Selena Marie Gomez (born July 22, 1992) is an American actress and singer best known for portraying Alex Russo in the Emmy Award-winning Disney Channel television series Wizards of Waverly Place.
Biography[]
When she was young her mother would act in plays. She found a flier that was asking for children to act in the children's television series "Barnie", which she landed a role in. After working on that for two years she auditioned for the role of Alex Russo at the age of 11. Again she landed the role. She appeared in the show's four-season run, along with its two made-for-television movies.
She subsequently ventured into feature films and has starred in the television movies Another Cinderella Story, Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie, and Princess Protection Program. She made her starring theatrical film debut in Ramona and Beezus where she played Beatrice Quimby.
